The Wilfrid Wilkinson Lecture Theatre was opened officially at Loyalist College today. The facility is named in honour of Wilfrid J. Wilkinson, FCA, CFE, Founder of Wilkinson & Company LLP.

Wilf Wilkinson is a charter member of the Board of Governors of the College. He was appointed in 1968 and chaired the Board in 1974 and 1975. He chaired the Leadership Division in the College’s Foundations for the New Millennium Capital Campaign in 1996-98, and is an Honorary Director of the Loyalist College Foundation.

The naming of the Lecture Theatre recognizes the significant contributions Mr. Wilkinson has made to the advancement of Loyalist College, as well as the support of Wilkinson & Company LLP, with a pledge of $25,000 toward the building of the facility.

Brian Kehoe, CA and Managing Partner of Wilkinson & Company, said, "This year , we are celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the founding of our firm. I cannot think of a better way to mark this milestone in the firm’s history, than to have this Lecture Theatre named in honour of our Founder, Wilf Wilkinson. It is a living tribute to his vision; a vision that has led to the creation of one of Eastern Ontario’s foremost regional public accounting firms."

Loyalist President Doug Auld congratulated Mr. Wilkinson and thanked the partners of the firm for assisting with this project with their donation. "We are very pleased that they have decided to make this contribution in recognition of one of the great pioneers of the College, Wilf Wilkinson."

The Wilfrid Wilkinson Lecture Theatre seats 90 and is equipped with a full range of audiovisual and computer networking capability. Other features of the SuperBuild initiative include the Parrott Centre, the new library and information resource centre, as well as a new student computer commons, and four classrooms.
